Reported Speech Interactive Practice
Six carefully structured tests based on the CBSE Class 10 (2026–27) grammar syllabus and question formats. Practise, submit, and learn from every answer.
Each question = 1 mark. Typed answers are checked against model wording; another grammatically valid expression may require teacher review.
Quick revision: 7 essential reported-speech rules
1. Statements
Use said/told + (that) + statement word order.
2. Yes/No questions
Use asked + if/whether + statement word order.
3. WH-questions
Retain the question word, but remove subject–auxiliary inversion.
4. Commands
Use told/ordered/instructed + object + to + verb.
5. Requests
Use requested/asked + object + to + verb.
6. Negative commands
Use told/warned + object + not to + verb.
7. Time and tense
In past reporting contexts, now → then, today → that day, tomorrow → the next day; backshift tenses when appropriate. Universal truths usually retain their tense.
All test items below are original practice questions inspired by the assessed formats; they are not reproduced CBSE examination questions.
